Reflection #3

This week in calculus, we covered a lot of work. We are now done with limits because we just took our chapter 1 test. We moved on to derivatives. But i'm going to refresh on limits a little bit more.

lim
x->infinity

1. Degree at top = degree bottom lim is the coefficient.
2. Degree top > degree bottom lim is infinity or -infinity.
3. Degree top < degree bottom lim is 0.

lim
x->infinity 1/x = 0

DERIVATIVES:

* When a question or the directions say to find: y', f'(x), dy/dx, d/dx, Dx[y], slope of a tangent line, or slope of the curve at a point it is telling you to find the derivative.

m = f(c+*x)-f(c)/*x

Example:

f(x + h) − f(x)/h = 2(x + h) − 5 − (2x − 5)/h

= 2x + 2h − 5 − 2x + 5/h

= 2h/h

= 2

And we are still learning derivatives this week, but as of now, they are pretty easy. Hopefully they stay that way. Because I don't like hard work.
